I love me some Christmas. I love the food, spending quality time with family and friends, I love the excitement building up to the big day and of course, I love the fact this incredible time of year is centred around the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

One other thing I’ve started to embrace in recent years is the good ol’ Christmas jumper. I wasn’t really the type of person to fork out on such attire in the past as I didn’t understand the point of buying an item of clothing I’d inevitably end up wearing just the once — or twice if I was really pulling out all the stops!

However, I think there’s something quite special about rocking a Christmas woolly during the Winter season. I absolutely adore jumpers and practically live in them for as much of the year as I can. A Christmas sweater can take things to that next level, helping to add that little bit of seasonal fun to your wardrobe.

There are a crazy number of options for Christmas jumpers out there. You’ve got ones with pictures of trees, presents and snow, knitwear with ugly granddad style patterns, jumpers with jingling bells, flashing lights and any other interactive function that can somehow be stitched on stuck on, sparkly numbers and my personal favourite, the ones with clever — and admittedly, often very cheesy — one liners.

As an ode to the classic Christmas jumper, I’ve picked out a few of my favourites that you should consider getting your hands on this year.

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
This first jumper from Misguided is super simple, but is definitely an option sure to get you in the festive spirit. The sequin Christmas tree and colourful pom poms add a little fun touch, while the classic turtleneck style still allows you to look super classy. This jumper is a great option for those of you wanting to inject some Christmassy fun into your wardrobe without going too crazy. Rock this with a black midi skirt and heeled ankle boots to really elevate the look.

Santa baby
Many of us know that Christmas doesn’t really have anything to do with Santa Claus, but the old man is always intent on making an appearance when December rolls around! This vibrant red jumper from Debenhams makes Father Christmas’ lovely soft beard the star of the show and comes complete with glittery snowflakes and a giant fluffy pom pom at the top of Santa’s hat. Pair with some snug jeans and your favourite knitted socks for the perfect cosy Christmas day in.

Dress to impress
Christmas jumpers can be cute and all that, but if you’re looking to really make a statement, why not try rocking a Christmas dress? This bardot jumper dress from Boohoo is festive, fun and fierce all at once! Team with some knee-high boots and a little leather jacket to complete this look — who said Christmas knitwear couldn’t be fashionable?
