SUMMER STYLE

Summer is upon us! Rompers are in for the menfolk – it’s a wonderful time to be alive!

There is never not a good time to experiment with your personal style but the summertime just affords you the perfect opportunity to do so.

Deciding whether you want to be trendy or timeless with your style can help direct your choice. Your approach can be dogmatic or flippant, just ensure it’s something you can enjoy and maintain.

Here are some pointers integral to finding your style

Be Confident
Confidence is essential in the journey to finding your personal style! We must be confident and comfortable in our own skin – we must embrace our quirks and celebrate our strengths. Don’t be afraid to play up the parts you love about yourself – from bold liner to draw attention to the glossiness of your eyes to a popping highlight to extenuate your amazing bone structure.

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut because you don’t want to make a fashion faux-pas – don’t be! Finding your style might mean kissing numerous fashion blunder frogs ’til you get to the prince. Plus, looking back at fashion faux pas is a truly enjoyable past time. Some looks are so poignant – they can literally conjure up a taste in your mouth; it also keeps one humble, reminiscing on how far you may (not) have come!

Have an open mind
Fun is outside of your comfort zone – just because this is cliché doesn’t make it any less true. On the spectrum of preference, it ranges from ‘typical YOU’ to ‘not even if you put a gun to my head’; depending on how drastic you want to be – you can head straight for the shot gun (may the odds be in your favour). However, I’d suggest you go for the, ‘Hmmm… Can I pull this off?’ initially, then progress as time goes along. I would also suggest trying these pieces or make up techniques with an honest and truthful friend – this can help you find your legs and give you the needed encouragement you need to explore further.

Be fluid
Fluidity and style go hand in hand like Mario and Luigi, Spongebob and Patrick, and Halle and Lujah. I believe personal style is a journey, not a location; you are allowed to make additions and subtractions to your look and wardrobe – life is dynamic and fluid our style is an extension of that – embrace dynamism. Your style does not have to be static, You can preppy one day and casual the next. Your style doesn’t have to be defined! Variety is the spice of life.

Drink water
It does wonders for your skin and body.
